Name and surname: Irene Amigo Jiménez
City: Madrid
Prior education: a Bachelor’s degree in Biotechnology by the Universidad de Salamanca and a PhD in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology and Biomedicine by Universidad Complutense de Madrid (UCM).
Training program carried out in ENEB: Postgraduate Program in Coaching, NLP and Team Leadership.
Job Position: Medical advisor associate at Pfizer.
What motivated you to participate in that training program?
My significant other lead a team and thanks to him I got to know Coaching. He attended many Coaching courses and when I finished my PhD thesis (I love to study) I looked for postgraduate programs, I found ENEB's, I liked it, and I quickly enrolled.
Was it difficult for you to reconcile work and study?
I am a scientist, and I work in a lab, that was the main reason why it took me so long to complete the program. It is feasible, but labs are very absorbing, you are not there for eight hours, you have to be 12 or 16 hours, depending on the day. I woke up early and studied before going to work, at 4 or 5 in the morning.
Has the program contributed to your professional growth?
Yes, a lot. It was something that I did because I wanted to. I think my final projects reflect that. I have learnt a lot about myself, and also how people work, how to lead a work team…I have never had the opportunity to study or practice those areas, and I think they are fascinating.
Did you always get help from your tutors?
Well, I have never contacted them. I am a self-learner, I contacted them at the beginning of the program to tell them not to be offended, but I was not going to write to them with doubts, as I wanted to find the answers by myself.
Did you like ENEB’s grading system?
I like the evaluation system because I think that it is a field that cannot be evaluated through an exam. If you put an effort in the projects, as I did, you learn a lot more than just by reading the syllabus. If you do it as a research project, you would learn a lot.
Would you recommend this program?
I already have recommed it! To everyone that asks me! And also it is very noticeable how I have changed because I applied what I learnt to myself, so a lot of people asks me: What have you done? And I tell them: See life from a new perspective.
