Name and surname: Gorka Iglesias Toquero
City: Vitoria
Prior education: Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering by the Escuela de Ingeniero de Bilbao and a PhD in Building and Manufacturing Tools by the Universidad de Oviedo
Training program carried out in ENEB: MBA – Master of Business Administration.
Job position: R&D General Manager (Condesa)
What motivated you to participate in that training program?
Mainly for two reasons. Firstly, to deepen my knowledge, and secondly, to build up my CV for management positions, as many companies value continuous training.
Why ENEB?
Above all, for the possibility of studying online, to not have to move to a class and be able to pace my study rhythm. I have very little time, I have my job and family, and I can't leave every weekend for a year and a half as my many programs require it. The possibility to do it from home, at night, noon or in my leisure time is what fits better. In this case, I found that it was a well-known Business School and that I had the liberty to chose my schedule.
Was it difficult for you to reconcile work and study? How many hours did you dedicate to your training program?
It wasn't stressful at all, because I could choose when to study, but it is hard. Studying is easier because you can read the syllabus when and where you can, but writing the final projects were tricky to manage as they require extra work and research. But as the methodology is 100% flexible, I was able to reconcile it with my professional and personal life.
Professionally speaking, what are your short and long- term objectives? Do you have any new project in mind?
Yes, the company I work for has been acquired by a bigger company with new ideas. In the short-term we have to adapt to the new company, in the long-term, we have to re-direct the business activity to adapt to the new market and the new company.
How did the MBA contribute to your day-to-day?
On the first hand, new knowledge to address topics related to my job positions: strategies, the launch of new projects, team management… What I have learned during the program has provided me with a new perspective to carry out those tasks.
It has also helped me to strengthen my knowledge in, for example, accounting, which usually I don’t handle on my day-to-day but now I know how it works. When you complete the Master’s some concepts are more clear, you have a better understanding and makes you feel more confident when carrying out your job and when interacting with other managers.
What would you single out from your experience with ENEB?
The flexibility it provides for pacing the study rhythm. I will also point out how fast and personalised they answer. When studying online you are always scared that everything is automated, but I noticed that there is an excellent team behind that sends a customised answer, with positive feedback and still within 24 hours.
